Dear Families,
Greetings from the Spelling bee corner! Thank you for your interest in the Apollo Elementary PTA sponsored Scripps Spelling Bee program. Below is an outline of the program and what is required from registered participants/families.
If your child would like to participate in the Spelling Bee, please complete the consent form.

How to prepare your student for the Class/School Bee?
- Word list provided from Scripps has been included in this announcement
- The words in the tests will start at grade level and increase in complexity spanning across higher grade levels.
- Please make a printed copy of the PDF available to your child so that he/she can learn as much as they can.
- Mock practice with words from the list is highly encouraged.

1st Round - Class Bee |
Date: Jan 15th, 2026 Time: 3:45pm – 4:30pm Location: MPR (Multi-Purpose Room) Grade: 1-5 |
· Students can prepare for spellings from the word list attached. · This round will be a written round. Students are required to write the spellings on a provided piece of paper. · Top 10 Performers from all grades will be selected for the next round (School Bee) · Students can request to repeat the words and ask for alternate pronunciations and definitions in this round. For additional practice download the word Club app. All ties/conflicts will be settled by Principal Julie Rojo and Apollo spelling bee chair. |

2nd Round - School Bee

Date: Feb 4th, 2024 Time: 1:45pm – 3:45pm Location: MPR (Multi-Purpose Room) |
· This round will be an Oral round. Students must spell each word aloud, letter by letter. · Rules for this round will be provided to the qualifying students · There will be 1 School winner. · The school winner will be eligible to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee. |
NOTE: Teachers are not part of this program. Please do not reach out to them for any guidance or additional word lists. For inquiries, please reach out to ApolloSpellingBee@outlook.com.

Next Steps:
- I will send out a reminder email as we get closer to the Class Bee for the post event pickup.
- If your kid qualifies to the second round I will inform you by mail on 1/21/2026.
All communications will be sent to the email account with which you have registered to the program. We will not be responsible for any student who has missed out on communication or schedule. There are no re-tests.
