Principal Position Filled at Apollo: Welcome, Julie Rojo

Message from...

Hello Apollo Elementary Students, Staff, Families and Friends,

My name is Julie Rojo, and I am thrilled to be your new principal at Apollo Elementary. I will be moving from California to Washington this summer and it’s truly a dream come true for me. I remember falling in love with Washington at 18 years old when I took my first trip up north and through the years made every excuse to visit.

I look forward to getting to know you and your families, building relationships, and learning as much as possible while making new memories at Apollo! Through my career, I have taught kindergarten through eighth grade. I have been in education for 22 years and next year will be my 11th year as principal. My whole life has been spent on a school campus! My grandfather and father were school bus drivers, custodians, and groundskeepers. I have fond memories of running around the school with my sister while my dad cleaned up after a dance or football game. For me, school life and family life are interwoven.

I am a proud mom of two. My daughter, Gabby, is graduating from high school and heading off to college, while my son, Michael, is finishing his second year of college. They are my favorite two people in the world, and I love spending time with them traveling, exploring, and planning new adventures. We are a big sports family and love to stay active playing and watching all sports. As a California native, I am the biggest San Francisco 49ers fan and San Francisco Giants fan, but I plan to support our Seattle teams as well, especially Reign and the Sounders!

In a short time, I have been learning about the exceptional work accomplished at Apollo. During our transition, I plan to work closely with district and school staff to ensure that we keep all great things in motion and continue to meet the needs of our students and families. My passion for equity and inclusion is deeply rooted in my cultural background. My priority as a leader at Apollo Elementary is to ensure that everyone feels a sense of belonging and connectedness. One of my greatest joys in this job is helping students build confidence, take risks, and become the most authentic version of themselves. Our school will continue to be a safe, welcoming place where our staff thrive, our students learn and grow, and that our families can depend upon.

Go Rockets!

Ms. Julie Rojo
